About

My name is Blessing Ajaero, and I'm a recent college graduate of Regis College. I live in the Greater Boston area, and I have a variety of interests. Social justice activism and education are integral to my character. I love to read, write, sing, act, proofread, copy edit, design graphics, manipulate photos, take photos, cook, bake, make jewelry, listen to and create music & podcasts, and spend time with my friends.

I have a wide variety of skills and talents suited for various roles. I'm persnickety with grammar and syntax, so I proofread and copy edit fastidiously, to the annoyance of my friends. Though I pay due respect to MLA, APA, and AP styles and align my work with style guides meticulously, I can easily switch between Standard American English and more informal dialects, and I know when it's logical to put aesthetics before linguistics.

Given a topic and some time, I write on and read about a wide variety of concepts, but I have some special interests that I return to again and again. My hobbies, obviously, give me much fodder. I also like current events: I have a BA in communications with a concentration in journalism, so I track the local and global news, paying particular attention to humanitarian, social justice, and environmental causes. I care a lot about my identities and the plight of my fellow vulnerable, oppressed, marginalized, and disenfranchised peoples, and I enjoy researching and amplifying the stories of those whose voices have been suppressed.

Serious issues and political news are important to me, but I also like to dwell on fun, fluffy topics, like the great pineapple on pizza debate, or discourse over the right way to eat cereal: milk first, cereal first, or just eat it dry? I find surreal, dadaist antics and complicated wordplay-based whimsy funny, but I'm also enamored with the inherent humor of the humble knock-knock joke or the dad-joke-worthy bad pun. Both hot-millennial-mess banter and refined, put-together witticisms are well within my wheelhouse.

On top of everything, I also have experience with administrative work: I’m a virtual assistant for a few websites, two of which I designed myself, and I run my own website. Offline, I’m currently temping as a front desk administrator, and I’m also the secretary for my family’s staffing agency, both of which mean I put a lot of work into scheduling, typing up and processing payroll, ordering supplies, and otherwise making sure things run smoothly behind the scenes.
